VCE English at Year 12 runs on three tasks: analytical text response, creating texts within a framework of ideas, and analysing argument. All three rely on foundations set in Years 9 and 10: identifying a contention, naming a persuasive technique and its effect, embedding evidence and writing accurately under time. This quiz checks those foundations across VCE English text response, Argument analysis, Creative & persuasive writing and Oral & exam preparation. It is deliberately short; use it to find the weak strand, then practise that one.
It suits Year 12 students who want a low-stakes check of the foundations their VCE English course assumes, parents of VCE students who want to see whether the basics are secure before the SACs start counting, and students deciding between subjects for next year.

A ten-item quiz can tell you whether the easy and at-level content is in place; it cannot tell you how a student copes with the multi-step, above-level questions that separate a Developing result from a Strong or Exceeding one, and it cannot see whether a wrong answer was a gap, a slip or a misreading.
