RHZ Tutoring has been tutoring Online Tutoring for families across Wyndham and the west from our Truganina centre, and Wyndham Vale is one of the suburbs we see most. Below is how our Online Tutoring tutoring works for Prep to Year 12, the topics we cover, and the practical details for Wyndham Vale families.

Online Tutoring tutoring for Wyndham Vale families

Wyndham Vale sits on the western edge of Wyndham and is still building out, with new estates feeding into a small number of very large schools. Wyndham Vale families are evenly split between driving to the Truganina centre and choosing online sessions, and we are happy to mix the two across a week.

Wyndham Vale to our Truganina centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 is about 15 minutes by car, via Ballan Road and Leakes Road, or the train to Tarneit. Every subject is also available online with the same tutor, and many Wyndham Vale families mix in-person and online across the week.

Schools our Wyndham Vale students come from

We tutor Online Tutoring students from Wyndham Vale Primary School, Iramoo Primary School, Manor Lakes P-12 College and Wyndham Central College and other local schools, so our tutors know the pace and the assessment styles used in Wyndham Vale.

Families from Tarneit, Manor Lakes, Werribee and Truganina use the same sessions, and small groups are formed by level, not by suburb. See also our general tutoring page for Wyndham Vale.

How we tutor Online Tutoring (Prep–Year 12)

Online tutoring is not a fallback at RHZ; it is how a large share of our families choose to learn, especially those who are more than fifteen minutes from our Truganina centre or who are juggling several children's activities. It runs live over video with the same tutors who teach in the centre, at the same prices, with the same free Skills Check at the start and the same plain-English progress note after every session.

A good online session looks different from a video call. The tutor and student share a digital whiteboard so working is visible to both, the tutor can see the student write in real time (a phone or document camera pointed at the page works well for maths), and materials are sent in advance so there is no scrambling. For English, the student writes in a shared document and the tutor marks it live. For VCE sciences and maths, worked solutions and calculator screens are shared directly.

Online suits some students better than in person. Students who are shy in a room often participate more from home. Senior students save the travel time and use it for study. Families with a child in Year 3 and another in Year 10 can run both sessions back-to-back without a second trip. And for VCE subjects with few students at a school, like Specialist Maths or Physics, online lets us match the student to the best tutor rather than the nearest.

It does not suit everyone. Very young students (Prep to Year 1) usually do better in person, where the tutor can hear them read and handle counters and cards. Students who are easily distracted at home need a quiet space and a parent nearby for the first few sessions. We will tell you honestly which format we recommend after the Skills Check, and many families mix the two: online during the week, in person before exams.

Practically, all a student needs is a laptop or tablet with a camera, a stable internet connection and a quiet spot. We send a link before each session, keep a record of what was covered, and the tutor can share the session's working with you afterwards. Small-group online sessions are capped at four so every student gets attention.

What we tutor online

How it works

1
Free Skills Check. Start with the free Skills Check: a short online diagnostic, done at home, that shows topic by topic where your child sits against their year level.
2
Free consultation. A tutor calls you for a free consultation, walks through the result and recommends a plan: 1:1 or small group, in person or online. No card, no lock-in.
3
Targeted sessions. Your child is matched with a Online Tutoring tutor and sessions start, at the Truganina centre or online. After each session you receive a short note on what was covered and what is next.

Pricing

Small-group sessions (three to five students of a similar level) are from $25 an hour. One-to-one sessions are $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of that range. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.

Frequently asked questions

Is online tutoring as effective as in person?

For most students from Year 3 upwards, yes, provided the session is well run with shared working and materials prepared in advance. For Prep to Year 2 we generally recommend in person.

What equipment do we need?

A laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. For maths, a phone or document camera pointed at the student's page lets the tutor see the working.

Are online tutors the same as centre tutors?

Yes. Our tutors work both in the centre and online, and the Skills Check, planning and progress notes are identical.

Can we mix online and in-person sessions?

Yes, and many families do: online during the week and in person at the Truganina centre for revision blocks or before exams.

What does online tutoring cost?

The same as in person: small-group sessions from $25 an hour and one-to-one from $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level. The Skills Check and consultation are free.
