This page is for Seabrook parents weighing up High School tutoring for a child in Years 7 to 12. It covers how we teach the subject, the curriculum topics we work through, what Seabrook families can expect on travel and format, and our prices. The short version: start with the free Skills Check, and a tutor will call you.
Seabrook is a small, settled suburb wedged between Point Cook and Altona Meadows. Most Seabrook children go to Seabrook Primary and then to Point Cook Senior, Laverton P-12 or a private school, so we tend to meet Seabrook families around Years 5 and 6 (NAPLAN, scholarship tests) and again in Year 10.
From Seabrook it is about 15 minutes to 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, via Point Cook Road and Dohertys Road. If getting to Truganina is awkward on a given day, the same session can run online with the same tutor.
Students from Seabrook Primary School, Altona Meadows Primary School, Point Cook Senior Secondary College, Laverton P-12 College and Carranballac P-9 College come to us for High School, which means the tutor usually recognises the school's sequence and the way it tests.
Families from Altona Meadows, Point Cook, Laverton and Williams Landing use the same sessions, and small groups are formed by level, not by suburb.
High school is where tutoring changes from fixing a gap to managing a workload. In Years 7 and 8 the issue is usually the jump from primary: more teachers, faster topics, and assessment that expects independent work. In Years 9 and 10 it is the pace of maths and the shift in English from retelling to analysis. In Years 11 and 12 it is the VCE itself. We tutor across all of it, and we start every student with a free Skills Check so the tutor knows where the gaps are rather than guessing from a report.
For junior secondary (Years 7 to 10) we tutor maths, English and science to the Victorian Curriculum, following the school's sequence but stepping back to earlier content whenever the Skills Check shows it is missing. Year 7 and 8 maths is where we most often find primary gaps in fractions and place value; Year 9 and 10 is where we prepare students for the Methods versus General decision and for VCE English. Science sessions follow the school's unit and teach the explanation-writing that tests reward.
For VCE (Years 11 and 12) we tutor Mathematical Methods, General Maths, Specialist Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, each by a tutor who knows that study design. VCE sessions are exam-focused from the start: worked SAC-style questions, past VCAA papers from mid-year, bound-reference building for the maths subjects, and weekly timed writing for English. We are honest with students about the marks they are leaving on the table and how to recover them.
Sessions are an hour, one-to-one or in a small group of similar level, at our Truganina centre or online. Every session ends with a progress note to parents: what was covered, what is secure, what is next. Homework is tutor-set and short, because high school students already have plenty; the point is deliberate practice on the specific skills that need it.
Many of our high school students come from the large secondary colleges of Melbourne's west, where class sizes make individual attention hard. Some are behind and want to catch up; some are doing fine and want to do very well; some are in Year 10 and want to walk into VCE prepared. The Skills Check and the free consultation are how we work out which, and what to do about it.

These are the topics our High School tutors work through with Seabrook students, grouped by year level. They come from the same curriculum-aligned question banks that power the free Skills Check, so the check tells us exactly which of these your child needs.
One-to-one tutoring is $35–$45 an hour depending on the year level; small groups of up to five are from $25 an hour. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.
Maths, English and science for Years 7 to 10, and Mathematical Methods, General Maths, Specialist Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics and Biology for VCE.
Yes, and it is a common reason families first contact us. We usually find one or two primary gaps in maths and an unfamiliarity with analytical writing in English, both of which respond quickly to targeted work.
Within sessions, yes: how to plan for a test, how to take notes that are useful, how to build a revision routine. We do not run separate study-skills courses; the habits are built into subject tutoring.
Term 4 of Year 10 is the sweet spot. It leaves time to fix Year 10 gaps and to learn the calculator and essay structures before Unit 1 begins.
Yes. Many students do maths and English, or a maths subject and a science, in separate sessions. We schedule them back-to-back where possible to save travel.
