New South Wales runs the most competitive selective-school system in the country. The Selective High School Placement Test is sat in Year 6 for entry to Year 7 at fully and partially selective high schools, and the Opportunity Class (OC) Placement Test is sat in Year 4 for Years 5 and 6 opportunity classes. Both assess reading, mathematical reasoning, thinking skills and writing at a level above the classroom, so preparation really means being a year ahead in maths and English and writing well under time. That is what our selective and scholarship program builds, and it runs online for NSW students on the same timeline as our Melbourne students.
Years 11 and 12 in New South Wales follow NESA syllabuses (Mathematics Standard, Advanced and Extension; English Standard, Advanced and Extension; the separate sciences), with school-based assessment feeding into the HSC examinations. RHZ tutors the HSC the way we tutor every non-Victorian senior certificate: we support the underlying maths, English and science skills and the study technique a Year 11 or 12 student needs, but we do not claim HSC syllabus or school-assessment expertise. In practice that means a Year 11 student in Parramatta can use us for the algebra, calculus and problem-solving that every senior maths course rests on, the analytical and persuasive writing every senior English course assesses, the chemistry, physics and biology concepts and the way to write a scientific explanation, and the habits of planning, note-making and timed practice. For Years 11 and 12 we are honest: we support the maths, English and science skills and the study technique a HSC student needs, but we do not claim HSC syllabus or school-assessment expertise, and we will say so if a subject is outside what we can help with.
Parramatta is the same time as Melbourne all year. A 4pm weekday session in Melbourne time is 4pm in Parramatta. We book in your local time, confirm the Melbourne equivalent in writing, and adjust automatically when clocks change.
For Prep to Year 10, yes in content and sequence. Each state publishes its own version (NESA syllabuses in New South Wales, the SCSA curriculum in Western Australia, the Victorian Curriculum in Victoria) but all are built on the Australian Curriculum version 9, so a Year 5 child in Parramatta is doing the same fractions, decimals and measurement as a Year 5 child in Melbourne. Years 11 and 12 are where the states genuinely differ.
