Western Australia's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) programs are entered through a selective test sat in Year 6 for Year 7 entry: to Perth Modern School, which is fully academically selective, and to the academic extension programs at a number of other public secondary schools. The test covers reading, mathematics, reasoning and writing above year level, and families typically prepare through Year 5 and the first half of Year 6. We run that preparation online in Perth time.
Years 11 and 12 in Western Australia lead to the WACE, with ATAR courses assessed by the school and by external examinations. Students must also meet the WACE literacy and numeracy standard, either through a Band 8 result in Year 9 NAPLAN or by passing the OLNA, which is why Year 9 NAPLAN carries more weight in WA than in other states. RHZ tutors the WACE the way we tutor every non-Victorian senior certificate: we support the underlying maths, English and science skills and the study technique a Year 11 or 12 student needs, but we do not claim WACE syllabus or school-assessment expertise. For Prep to Year 10, yes in content and sequence. Each state publishes its own version (NESA syllabuses in New South Wales, the SCSA curriculum in Western Australia, the Victorian Curriculum in Victoria) but all are built on the Australian Curriculum version 9, so a Year 5 child in Perth is doing the same fractions, decimals and measurement as a Year 5 child in Melbourne. Years 11 and 12 are where the states genuinely differ.
