Here is how our Year 12 tutoring works for Werribee families: what happens in a session, when and where it runs, what it costs and how to start.

Year 12 tutoring for Werribee families

Year 12 is the one year where the calendar is fixed and public: SACs through Terms 1 to 3, the GAT in June, and the VCE written exams from late October into November. Tutoring a Year 12 student from Werribee therefore means working to that calendar, subject by subject, with a tutor who knows the study design and the way VCAA examiners mark. This page explains how we do it, what it costs, and how to fit it around a school day.

Here is the shape of the year. Terms 1 and 2: keep pace with Unit 3, prepare for each SAC with study-design-based practice, start the bound reference (Methods, Specialist, General) and a weekly timed essay (English). June: GAT. Term 3: Unit 4 SACs and the first full timed VCAA papers. Term 3 holidays and October: intensive revision, one past paper per session, marked the way the examiner marks, with the tutor tracking the marks lost and the reasons. Exams run from late October into November.

Subjects: Mathematical Methods, General Maths and Specialist Maths (including CAS calculator technique and the bound reference), English (text response, comparative, argument analysis, with a timed essay every week), Chemistry, Physics and Biology (short-answer and extended-response technique, the command words examiners use, and the data-analysis questions students lose marks on). Each is taught by a tutor who tutors that subject specifically, not a generalist.

Pricing for Year 12 is $45 an hour one-to-one, or from $25 an hour in a small group where one forms in that subject. Most Werribee students do one session a week per subject and double it in October. There is no enrolment fee and no lock-in; the plan simply ends after the exams. The VCE Skills Check and the consultation are free, and a Year 12 student can start at any point in the year.

Werribee to our Truganina centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 is about 15 minutes by car, along the Princes Freeway or Hoppers Lane. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. Parking is free and directly outside the centre, which matters at 3:30 pm when you are doing a school pick-up and a tutoring drop-off in the same trip. During Term 3 and October we open extra morning and holiday slots so Werribee Year 12s on study leave can do a past paper with a tutor in the morning and review it the same day.

Our after-school window is 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour sessions. As a rule for Werribee families the 4:30 pm and 5 pm slots are the most popular, because the 15-minute drive after a 3:15 pm school finish makes 3:30 pm too tight. The last session of the day starts at 6 pm (5 pm on Fridays).

How it works

1
Free Skills Check. Start with the free Skills Check: a short online diagnostic, done at home, that shows topic by topic where your child sits against their year level.
2
Free consultation. A tutor calls you for a free consultation, walks through the result and recommends a plan: 1:1 or small group, in person or online. No card, no lock-in.
3
Targeted sessions. Your child is matched with a tutor and sessions start, at the Truganina centre or online. After each session you receive a short note on what was covered and what is next.

Pricing

Small-group sessions (three to five students of a similar level) are from $25 an hour. One-to-one sessions are $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of that range. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.

Frequently asked questions

Is it too late to start Year 12 tutoring mid-year?

No. From mid-year the work is past papers and SAC preparation, which is exactly where a tutor adds the most. The first session includes a free VCE Skills Check so the tutor knows which areas to prioritise.

When are the 2026 VCE exams?

The written exams run from late October into November 2026 (the English exam is first). The Term 3 holidays, 19 September to 4 October, are the last structured revision window before them, and we run extra sessions then.

Do you tutor for the GAT?

Yes, briefly: a short preparation in June covering the format and the writing tasks. The GAT does not need months of work; the subject exams do.

Where is the Year 12 tutoring held for Werribee families?

At our Truganina centre, 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, about 15 minutes from Werribee (along the Princes Freeway or Hoppers Lane), or online with the same tutor. The centre is four minutes from Tarneit station with free parking outside.

What does it cost?

Small groups of three to five students are from $25 an hour. One-to-one is $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of the range. The Skills Check and the consultation are free, plans are monthly and you can cancel any time.

How do we start?

Your child does the free online Skills Check (10 to 15 minutes, at home). A tutor calls you for a free consultation, goes through the result and recommends a format and a starting point. Nothing is charged until you decide to go ahead.
