📍 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029👩‍🏫 Local tutors, valid WWCC⭐ 5.0 · 34 Google reviews

RHZ Tutoring is a local, independent centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, rated 5.0 on Google from 34 reviews, and Point Cook is one of the suburbs we see most. Here is how our after-school tutoring works for Point Cook families: what happens in a session, when and where it runs, what it costs and how to start.

After-school tutoring for Point Cook families

The after-school hours are when tutoring actually happens for most Point Cook families: school finishes around 3:15 pm, and by 3:30 pm the first students are at the centre. We built our timetable around that window rather than around weekends, because a student who has a maths session on Tuesday at 4 pm applies it in class on Wednesday, and the tutor sees the result the following Tuesday. That weekly rhythm is what moves a grade.

The centre opens for after-school tutoring from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday. We find that for Point Cook families the 4:30 pm and 5 pm slots are the most popular, because the 15-minute drive after a 3:15 pm school finish makes 3:30 pm too tight. If a day does not work, the same session can run online with the same tutor.

A one-hour after-school session has a fixed shape. The first ten minutes are retrieval practice on last week's skills, because that is when we find out what actually stuck. The middle forty minutes are teaching and worked examples with the tutor watching the student work, not just marking at the end. The last ten minutes are a short check the student can do it alone, and the tutor writes a plain-English progress note to you before the next student sits down.

Students from Point Cook Senior Secondary College, Alamanda K-9 College, Saltwater P-9 College, Carranballac P-9 College and Point Cook P-9 College make up most of our Point Cook after-school intake. We are independent of all of them; we simply know what they teach and when they test.

Point Cook to our Truganina centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 is about 15 minutes by car, via Palmers Road and Sayers Road, or the Princes Freeway to Forsyth Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking right outside 17/47 Apex Drive; most parents drop off, do the shopping at Tarneit or Truganina and come back.

Students can book one after-school session a week per subject, which is the norm, or two in the term before NAPLAN, a scholarship or selective-entry test, or the VCE exams. Many Point Cook families run maths on one afternoon and English on another; siblings are scheduled back to back so there is one trip, not two. If your child has sport on their usual day, the session can move online for that week with the same tutor.

How it works

1
Free Skills Check. Start with the free Skills Check: a short online diagnostic, done at home, that shows topic by topic where your child sits against their year level.
2
Free consultation. A tutor calls you for a free consultation, walks through the result and recommends a plan: 1:1 or small group, in person or online. No card, no lock-in.
3
Targeted sessions. Your child is matched with a tutor and sessions start, at the Truganina centre or online. After each session you receive a short note on what was covered and what is next.

Pricing

Small-group sessions (three to five students of a similar level) are from $25 an hour. One-to-one sessions are $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of that range. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.

Frequently asked questions

What time do after-school sessions run?

From 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour blocks. The last session starts at 6 pm (5 pm Friday). Students who arrive early can start homework in the quiet room.

Can my child get there from school on their own?

Secondary students often do: the centre is about four minutes from Tarneit station and on local bus routes. Primary students are usually dropped off by a parent after the school pick-up, and Point Cook families typically choose a slot that leaves time for the drive.

What if we cannot make the same afternoon every week?

Sessions can move between afternoons when a slot is free, and any session can run online with the same tutor. Tell the tutor at the start of the week and we will rearrange rather than cancel.

Where is the after-school tutoring held for Point Cook families?

At our Truganina centre, 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, about 15 minutes from Point Cook (via Palmers Road and Sayers Road, or the Princes Freeway to Forsyth Road), or online with the same tutor. The centre is four minutes from Tarneit station with free parking outside.

What does it cost?

Small groups of three to five students are from $25 an hour. One-to-one is $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of the range. The Skills Check and the consultation are free, plans are monthly and you can cancel any time.

How do we start?

Your child does the free online Skills Check (10 to 15 minutes, at home). A tutor calls you for a free consultation, goes through the result and recommends a format and a starting point. Nothing is charged until you decide to go ahead.
