Altona Meadows has good primary schools but no secondary college of its own, so students spread out to Laverton, Point Cook, Altona and the Catholic colleges for Years 7 to 12. That spread is one reason we anchor every session to the Victorian Curriculum rather than to one school's worksheets.
Most of the tutoring we do for Altona Meadows students happens between 3:30 pm and 7 pm on a school day. It is the window that fits around school, sport and dinner, and it is also the window in which the work is freshest: the topic the class covered that morning is the topic the tutor can fix that afternoon. Weekend and holiday sessions exist, but the after-school session is the backbone.
Our after-school window is 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour sessions. As a rule for Altona Meadows families the 4:30 pm and 5 pm slots are the most popular, because the 15-minute drive after a 3:15 pm school finish makes 3:30 pm too tight. The last session of the day starts at 6 pm (5 pm on Fridays).
Every after-school hour runs the same way: a short warm-up on the previous session's skills, forty minutes of new teaching with the student doing the work in front of the tutor, and a quick independent check at the end. You get a progress note the same evening: what was covered, what is secure, what is next. Homework is ten to fifteen minutes a night, set from that note, never a stack of worksheets.
After the bell, most of the students walking into the centre from Altona Meadows come from Altona Meadows Primary School, Queen of Peace Primary School, Seabrook Primary School and Laverton P-12 College. Tutors see the same schools' worksheets and tests week after week, so they recognise the sequence a class is on.
From Altona Meadows it is about 15 minutes to 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, via Point Cook Road and the Princes Freeway, or Boundary Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking at the door on Apex Drive, so pick-up and drop-off take a minute, not a lap of a shopping centre car park.
One session a week per subject is the standard after-school pattern; two a week is worth it for a student who is more than a year behind or in the run-up to an exam. Because the same tutors teach online, a Altona Meadows student who cannot get to the centre on a given afternoon keeps the session online rather than losing the week, and siblings can be booked back to back so one drive covers both.

One-to-one tutoring is $35–$45 an hour depending on the year level; small groups of up to five are from $25 an hour. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.
From 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour blocks. The last session starts at 6 pm (5 pm Friday). Students who arrive early can start homework in the quiet room.
Secondary students often do: the centre is about four minutes from Tarneit station and on local bus routes. Primary students are usually dropped off by a parent after the school pick-up, and Altona Meadows families typically choose a slot that leaves time for the drive.
Sessions can move between afternoons when a slot is free, and any session can run online with the same tutor. Tell the tutor at the start of the week and we will rearrange rather than cancel.
At our Truganina centre, 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, about 15 minutes from Altona Meadows (via Point Cook Road and the Princes Freeway, or Boundary Road), or online with the same tutor. The centre is four minutes from Tarneit station with free parking outside.
Small groups of three to five students are from $25 an hour. One-to-one is $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of the range. The Skills Check and the consultation are free, plans are monthly and you can cancel any time.
Your child does the free online Skills Check (10 to 15 minutes, at home). A tutor calls you for a free consultation, goes through the result and recommends a format and a starting point. Nothing is charged until you decide to go ahead.
