Williams Landing is a compact, newer suburb around the station, and most of its students travel out for school: to Point Cook or Truganina for primary, and to Point Cook Senior, Laverton P-12 or one of the independent schools for secondary. It is one of the closest suburbs to our centre, so afternoon in-person slots are easy to fit around school pick-up.

After-school tutoring for Williams Landing families

Most of the tutoring we do for Williams Landing students happens between 3:30 pm and 7 pm on a school day. It is the window that fits around school, sport and dinner, and it is also the window in which the work is freshest: the topic the class covered that morning is the topic the tutor can fix that afternoon. Weekend and holiday sessions exist, but the after-school session is the backbone.

The centre opens for after-school tutoring from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday. We find that most Williams Landing families take a 4 pm or 4:30 pm slot, which leaves time for the school pick-up and the 8-minute drive. If a day does not work, the same session can run online with the same tutor.

Every after-school hour runs the same way: a short warm-up on the previous session's skills, forty minutes of new teaching with the student doing the work in front of the tutor, and a quick independent check at the end. You get a progress note the same evening: what was covered, what is secure, what is next. Homework is ten to fifteen minutes a night, set from that note, never a stack of worksheets.

Williams Landing students at the centre attend Williams Landing Primary School, Point Cook Senior Secondary College, Truganina South Primary School, Laverton P-12 College, Alamanda K-9 College and Westbourne Grammar School. A tutor will always ask for the latest school test or assessment rubric, because that is the fastest way to see how a particular school marks.

The drive from Williams Landing (3027) to our centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 takes about 8 minutes, up Palmers Road, or one stop on the train to Tarneit. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. Parking is free and directly outside the centre, which matters at 3:30 pm when you are doing a school pick-up and a tutoring drop-off in the same trip.

One session a week per subject is the standard after-school pattern; two a week is worth it for a student who is more than a year behind or in the run-up to an exam. Because the same tutors teach online, a Williams Landing student who cannot get to the centre on a given afternoon keeps the session online rather than losing the week, and siblings can be booked back to back so one drive covers both.

3
Targeted sessions. Sessions begin with a matched tutor who already teaches other Williams Landing students, with a plain-English progress note to you after every session.

Pricing

One-to-one tutoring is $35–$45 an hour depending on the year level; small groups of up to five are from $25 an hour. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.

Frequently asked questions

What time do after-school sessions run?

From 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour blocks. The last session starts at 6 pm (5 pm Friday). Students who arrive early can start homework in the quiet room.

Can my child get there from school on their own?

Secondary students often do: the centre is about four minutes from Tarneit station and on local bus routes. Primary students are usually dropped off by a parent after the school pick-up, and Williams Landing families typically choose a slot that leaves time for the drive.

What if we cannot make the same afternoon every week?

Sessions can move between afternoons when a slot is free, and any session can run online with the same tutor. Tell the tutor at the start of the week and we will rearrange rather than cancel.

Where is the after-school tutoring held for Williams Landing families?

At our Truganina centre, 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, about 8 minutes from Williams Landing (up Palmers Road, or one stop on the train to Tarneit), or online with the same tutor. The centre is four minutes from Tarneit station with free parking outside.

What does it cost?

Small groups of three to five students are from $25 an hour. One-to-one is $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of the range. The Skills Check and the consultation are free, plans are monthly and you can cancel any time.

How do we start?

Your child does the free online Skills Check (10 to 15 minutes, at home). A tutor calls you for a free consultation, goes through the result and recommends a format and a starting point. Nothing is charged until you decide to go ahead.
