RHZ Tutoring is a local, independent centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, rated 5.0 on Google from 34 reviews, and Williams Landing is one of the suburbs we see most. Here is how our exam preparation works for Williams Landing families: what happens in a session, when and where it runs, what it costs and how to start.
Exam preparation is where tutoring pays off most visibly and where it is most often done badly. Cramming the week before a test produces a small, temporary lift; a planned run-up produces a permanent one. For Williams Landing students we plan backwards from the date: what needs to be secure, in what order, and how much timed practice is realistic. This page explains that timeline for each kind of exam our students sit.
For a school semester exam, the preparation is the whole term, not the last week. Early in the term the sessions keep pace with the class; about a month out they become cumulative revision across every topic; a fortnight out they become timed practice on past papers, marked against the school's rubric, with the tutor recording the marks lost and why. The final week fixes the three or four errors that keep recurring. That sequence is the same for a Year 7 maths exam and a Year 10 English exam.
VCE is different because the SACs are spread across the year and each one counts. Our VCE preparation starts from the study design: the tutor knows what each SAC assesses and prepares the student for it two to three weeks ahead with worked SAC-style questions. From mid-year, sessions add past VCAA exam papers, one section at a time, then whole papers under time. For the maths subjects we build the bound reference across the year rather than in October. For English, a timed essay every week from Term 2. The last four weeks before the November exams are entirely past papers and marking.
For NAPLAN our advice to Williams Landing families is calm: secure the year's content, spend a few sessions on the format and on the two writing genres, and treat the March test as a check rather than a target. Selective-entry (Year 9 entry, sat in Year 8) and independent-school scholarship tests are a different matter: they are competitive, timed and reasoning-heavy, so we plan a three-to-six-month run-up with weekly timed practice across numerical, verbal and abstract reasoning plus writing, and we are honest with families about where a child sits.
The drive from Williams Landing (3027) to our centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 takes about 8 minutes, up Palmers Road, or one stop on the train to Tarneit. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking at the door on Apex Drive, so pick-up and drop-off take a minute, not a lap of a shopping centre car park. In the weeks before exams we add extra slots, including morning and holiday sessions, so a Williams Landing student can do two or three sessions a week without waiting for a free afternoon.
The centre opens for after-school tutoring from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday. We find that most Williams Landing families take a 4 pm or 4:30 pm slot, which leaves time for the school pick-up and the 8-minute drive. If a day does not work, the same session can run online with the same tutor.

Small-group sessions (three to five students of a similar level) are from $25 an hour. One-to-one sessions are $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of that range. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.
School exams: the whole term, with timed practice in the last fortnight. VCE: from the start of the year for SACs, with past VCAA papers from mid-year. NAPLAN: a few sessions on format on top of normal tutoring. Selective-entry and scholarship tests: three to six months.
Yes, where they exist: the school's own past papers for school exams, past VCAA papers for VCE, and reasoning-style practice for selective-entry and scholarship tests. The tutor marks them the way the examiner would and keeps a record of the marks lost and why.
Within sessions, yes. Most exam anxiety is about not knowing what will come up; structured timed practice, marked and discussed, is the most reliable fix we know. The tutor also teaches simple exam routines: reading time, question order, what to do when stuck.
