Williams Landing is a compact, newer suburb around the station, and most of its students travel out for school: to Point Cook or Truganina for primary, and to Point Cook Senior, Laverton P-12 or one of the independent schools for secondary. It is one of the closest suburbs to our centre, so afternoon in-person slots are easy to fit around school pick-up.

Small-group tutoring classes for Williams Landing families

A small group at RHZ is three to five students, grouped by year level and by need, with one tutor for the hour. It is not a class of fifteen with a worksheet. Every student is placed from their free Skills Check so the group works on the same skills at roughly the same pace, and the tutor moves between them, watching working rather than marking at the end. For Williams Landing families it is the format we suggest first for Years 3 to 10 at or near year level.

Groups are formed by level, not by suburb or by school, which is why Williams Landing students sit with students from Truganina, Point Cook and Laverton. A Year 6 maths group, for example, might have four students from three schools who all need fractions, decimals and problem solving; a Year 9 group might be working on linear graphs and trigonometry. If a student pulls ahead of the group or falls behind it, we move them; the group is a tool, not a fixed class.

A group session is from $25 an hour, monthly plan, no lock-in. Groups run for Years 3 to 12; Prep to Year 2 are one-to-one only. The same group can run online for a Williams Landing student who cannot travel on a particular day, and some of our groups are fully online with students from across the west. Whichever format, the tutor writes an individual note for every student after every session.

After the bell, most of the students walking into the centre from Williams Landing come from Williams Landing Primary School, Point Cook Senior Secondary College, Truganina South Primary School and Laverton P-12 College. Tutors see the same schools' worksheets and tests week after week, so they recognise the sequence a class is on.

The drive from Williams Landing (3027) to our centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 takes about 8 minutes, up Palmers Road, or one stop on the train to Tarneit. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking at the door on Apex Drive, so pick-up and drop-off take a minute, not a lap of a shopping centre car park. After-school sessions at the centre run from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday. In practice most Williams Landing families take a 4 pm or 4:30 pm slot, which leaves time for the school pick-up and the 8-minute drive. Sessions are an hour, and students who arrive early sit in the quiet room and start their homework.

Sometimes, but groups are formed by level, not school. Williams Landing students often share a group with students from Truganina and Point Cook. If your child needs a different level, they move.
