RHZ Tutoring is a local, independent centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, rated 5.0 on Google from 34 reviews, and Manor Lakes is one of the suburbs we see most. Here is how our holiday program works for Manor Lakes families: what happens in a session, when and where it runs, what it costs and how to start.

School holiday tutoring for Manor Lakes families

School holidays are the only time in the year when a student can go backwards to fix something without falling further behind in class. That is why we run holiday programs for Manor Lakes students in every break: the Term 3 holidays (Saturday 19 September to Sunday 4 October 2026), the December to January summer break, and the shorter autumn and winter breaks. The point is not to keep children busy; it is to use two quiet weeks to close a gap the term never gave time for.

A holiday block runs like this: the free Skills Check first, so we are not guessing; then three to five one-hour sessions spread across the two weeks, one-to-one or in a small group of similar level; then a short final check so the gain is measured, not assumed. Sessions run in the morning and early afternoon during the holidays, which suits families who want the rest of the day free, and can also run online for Manor Lakes students who are away.

The Term 3 holidays matter more than the others for two groups. Year 12 students use them for the last structured revision before the VCE exams begin in late October, working through past VCAA papers with a tutor rather than alone. Year 10 and Year 11 students use them for our VCE 2027 Head Start: a free VCE Skills Check, a free consultation and a first session free, followed by a Unit 1 and 2 or Unit 3 and 4 head start that runs through Term 4 and January. Details are on the Head Start page linked below.

In the summer break we run a lighter program for primary and junior secondary students from Manor Lakes: one or two sessions a week across three or four weeks, focused on the skills that fade fastest (reading fluency, times tables, fractions, sentence structure) and on the transition ahead, whether that is Year 6 into Year 7 or Year 10 into VCE. It is deliberately low-key; the aim is to arrive in February ready, not exhausted.

The drive from Manor Lakes (3024) to our centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 takes about 20 minutes, via Ballan Road and Leakes Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. Parking is free and directly outside the centre, which matters at 3:30 pm when you are doing a school pick-up and a tutoring drop-off in the same trip. Holiday sessions run in the morning and early afternoon, and the afternoon traffic that makes a term-time drive slow is absent. In term time, after-school sessions run from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, so a holiday block can roll straight into a weekly slot.

Year 10 and 11 families: the Term 3 and summer holiday blocks are part of the VCE 2027 Head Start (free VCE Skills Check, free consultation, first session free, Unit 1&2 / Unit 3&4 head start through Term 4 and January).

How it works

1
Free Skills Check. Start with the free Skills Check: a short online diagnostic, done at home, that shows topic by topic where your child sits against their year level.
2
Free consultation. A tutor calls you for a free consultation, walks through the result and recommends a plan: 1:1 or small group, in person or online. No card, no lock-in.
3
Targeted sessions. Your child is matched with a tutor and sessions start, at the Truganina centre or online. After each session you receive a short note on what was covered and what is next.

Pricing

Small-group sessions (three to five students of a similar level) are from $25 an hour. One-to-one sessions are $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of that range. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.

Frequently asked questions

When is the next holiday program?

The Term 3 holidays, Saturday 19 September to Sunday 4 October 2026. After that, the summer program runs across December and January. Book early for the Term 3 block; Year 12 exam-revision slots fill first.

How many sessions does a holiday block involve?

Usually three to five one-hour sessions across the fortnight, one-to-one or in a small group of three to five students at the same level. Year 12 exam revision is often more intensive. The tutor recommends a number after the free Skills Check.

Does the holiday program continue into the term?

It can. Most families who do a holiday block continue with a weekly after-school session so the gain is not lost; others use the holidays only. There is no lock-in either way.

Where is the holiday program held for Manor Lakes families?

At our Truganina centre, 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, about 20 minutes from Manor Lakes (via Ballan Road and Leakes Road), or online with the same tutor. The centre is four minutes from Tarneit station with free parking outside.

What does it cost?

Small groups of three to five students are from $25 an hour. One-to-one is $35 to $45 an hour depending on year level, with VCE at the top of the range. The Skills Check and the consultation are free, plans are monthly and you can cancel any time.

How do we start?

Your child does the free online Skills Check (10 to 15 minutes, at home). A tutor calls you for a free consultation, goes through the result and recommends a format and a starting point. Nothing is charged until you decide to go ahead.
