Small-Group Tutoring Manor Lakes

Manor Lakes is one of the newest estates in Wyndham, built around Manor Lakes P-12 College, which is one of the largest schools in the state. With that many students in a single school, families often tell us their child is doing fine on the report but they are not sure what that means. A twenty-minute drive is doable, but many Manor Lakes families take the online option and keep the drive for exam-time revision days.

Small-group tutoring classes for Manor Lakes families

A small group at RHZ is three to five students, grouped by year level and by need, with one tutor for the hour. It is not a class of fifteen with a worksheet. Every student is placed from their free Skills Check so the group works on the same skills at roughly the same pace, and the tutor moves between them, watching working rather than marking at the end. For Manor Lakes families it is the format we suggest first for Years 3 to 10 at or near year level.

Groups are formed by level, not by suburb or by school, which is why Manor Lakes students sit with students from Wyndham Vale, Werribee and Tarneit. A Year 6 maths group, for example, might have four students from three schools who all need fractions, decimals and problem solving; a Year 9 group might be working on linear graphs and trigonometry. If a student pulls ahead of the group or falls behind it, we move them; the group is a tool, not a fixed class.

A group session is from $25 an hour, monthly plan, no lock-in. Groups run for Years 3 to 12; Prep to Year 2 are one-to-one only. The same group can run online for a Manor Lakes student who cannot travel on a particular day, and some of our groups are fully online with students from across the west. Whichever format, the tutor writes an individual note for every student after every session.

After the bell, most of the students walking into the centre from Manor Lakes come from Manor Lakes P-12 College, Lollypop Creek Primary School, Wyndham Vale Primary School and Iramoo Primary School. Tutors see the same schools' worksheets and tests week after week, so they recognise the sequence a class is on.

Manor Lakes to our Truganina centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 is about 20 minutes by car, via Ballan Road and Leakes Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking at the door on Apex Drive, so pick-up and drop-off take a minute, not a lap of a shopping centre car park. Our after-school window is 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour sessions. As a rule for Manor Lakes families the 4:30 pm and 5 pm slots are the most popular, because the 20-minute drive after a 3:15 pm school finish makes 3:30 pm too tight. The last session of the day starts at 6 pm (5 pm on Fridays).

Free Skills Check. Your child does the free online Skills Check (10–15 minutes) pitched at the top of their year level. You get a topic-by-topic report the same day.

Targeted sessions. Sessions begin with a matched tutor who already teaches other Manor Lakes students, with a plain-English progress note to you after every session.

Pricing

One-to-one tutoring is $35–$45 an hour depending on the year level; small groups of up to five are from $25 an hour. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.

How big are the groups?

Will my child be grouped with students from their school?

Sometimes, but groups are formed by level, not school. Manor Lakes students often share a group with students from Wyndham Vale and Werribee. If your child needs a different level, they move.

What if my child needs more attention than a group allows?
