Tarneit is one of the youngest suburbs in Victoria by median age, with a large share of families who moved here for space and schooling. Many of our Tarneit students attend the newer P-9 colleges and then move to Tarneit Senior College for VCE, so the transition years (Year 6 to 7, and Year 9 to 10) come up often in our consultations.

School holiday tutoring for Tarneit families

Two weeks with no new content is a gift for a student who has a gap. For Tarneit families the next opportunity is the Term 3 holidays, Saturday 19 September to Sunday 4 October 2026, followed by the long summer break in December and January. We run a structured holiday program in each, at the Truganina centre and online, built for one purpose: fix the two or three things that were holding your child back in class before the next term starts.

The holiday clinic structure is simple. Day one is a Skills Check (free, and done online beforehand if you prefer) so the tutor knows which topics are secure and which are not. Then the student comes in for a block of sessions, usually three to five one-hour sessions across the fortnight, either one-to-one or in a small group of three to five students at the same level. Each session follows the same shape as a term session: retrieval, teaching with the tutor watching, independent check. The last session is a short review so you can see what has changed.

For senior students the Term 3 break is the important one. Year 12s get a last block of exam practice before the late-October VCE exams, working timed VCAA papers with a tutor; Year 10s and 11s can start the VCE 2027 Head Start, which includes a free VCE Skills Check, a free consultation and the first session free, then a Unit 1 and 2 or Unit 3 and 4 head start through Term 4 and the summer. The offer is described on the Head Start page below.

For primary and junior secondary students the summer program in December and January is about not losing ground. Reading fluency and number facts both fade over six weeks without practice, and the students we meet in February who "went backwards" almost always just stopped. A short summer block, one or two sessions a week over three or four weeks, keeps the skills warm and lets a Year 6 walk into Year 7, or a Year 9 into Year 10, already up to speed on the topics the first term assumes.

The drive from Tarneit (3029) to our centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 takes about 5 minutes, straight down Leakes Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. Parking is free and directly outside the centre, which matters at 3:30 pm when you are doing a school pick-up and a tutoring drop-off in the same trip. During the holidays we open in the morning as well as the afternoon, so Tarneit families can book a 10 am slot and have the rest of the day free. In term time, after-school sessions run from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, so a holiday block can roll straight into a weekly slot.

Year 10 and 11 families: the Term 3 and summer holiday blocks are part of the VCE 2027 Head Start (free VCE Skills Check, free consultation, first session free, Unit 1&2 / Unit 3&4 head start through Term 4 and January).

Free consultation. We call you for a free consultation, go through the result together and suggest a starting point and a format. Nothing is charged until you decide to go ahead.
3
Targeted sessions. Sessions begin with a matched tutor who already teaches other Tarneit students, with a plain-English progress note to you after every session.

Pricing

One-to-one tutoring is $35–$45 an hour depending on the year level; small groups of up to five are from $25 an hour. Plans are monthly, you choose how many sessions a week, and you can cancel any time. The Skills Check and the consultation are free. Online and in-person sessions cost the same.
