Our small-group classes are the most popular format for Tarneit primary and junior secondary students, and the reason is not only price. A group of three to five students at the same level, with one tutor, has a pace: students see each other work, hear each other's mistakes explained, and tend to try harder than they would alone. The tutor still watches every student's working, still writes an individual progress note, and still steps back a year for one student when the Skills Check says so.

We group by level rather than by school, so a Tarneit student's classmates may come from Truganina, Wyndham Vale and Hoppers Crossing. The Skills Check decides placement: a Year 8 who is strong in number but weak in algebra goes into a group working on algebra, not simply a Year 8 group. Groups are reviewed each term and students move when their needs change. Siblings at different levels are booked at the same time in different groups so there is one trip.

The drive from Tarneit (3029) to our centre at 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029 takes about 5 minutes, straight down Leakes Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking right outside 17/47 Apex Drive; most parents drop off, do the shopping at Tarneit or Truganina and come back. Our after-school window is 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour sessions. As a rule most Tarneit families take a 4 pm or 4:30 pm slot, which leaves time for the school pick-up and the 5-minute drive. The last session of the day starts at 6 pm (5 pm on Fridays).

How big are the groups?

Three to five students at the same level with one tutor. Never more than five. Prep to Year 2 are one-to-one only.

Will my child be grouped with students from their school?

Sometimes, but groups are formed by level, not school. Tarneit students often share a group with students from Truganina and Wyndham Vale. If your child needs a different level, they move.

What if my child needs more attention than a group allows?
