A good maths tutor does one thing before anything else: finds out which earlier skill is missing. Home practice is ten to fifteen minutes a night, usually a Mastery Booklet on the single skill from the session. You receive a progress note after every session. The centre is about four minutes from Tarneit station, so older students can come by train and walk or be collected. Parking is free and directly outside the centre, which matters at 3:30 pm when you are doing a school pick-up and a tutoring drop-off in the same trip.

The centre opens for after-school tutoring from 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday. We find that the 3:30 pm slot is realistic for Truganina students because the school run and the tutoring run are the same trip. If a day does not work, the same session can run online with the same tutor.
