We recommend one-to-one when the Skills Check shows a student more than a year behind, when a child is anxious or reluctant, for early readers in Prep to Year 2, for students working well above their year level, and for VCE students in the final run to exams. A small group is usually better value for a primary or junior secondary student who is roughly at level and needs steady, structured practice; the price is lower and students often work harder alongside peers.

The tutor is matched, not assigned at random. After the free consultation we pair your child with a tutor who teaches that subject and year level and, where possible, already works with other Altona Meadows students, so the school's sequence and assessment style are familiar. You keep the same tutor; if the match is wrong, tell us and we change it. Every session ends with a written progress note: what was covered, what is secure, what is next.

From Altona Meadows it is about 15 minutes to 17/47 Apex Drive, Truganina VIC 3029, via Point Cook Road and the Princes Freeway, or Boundary Road. The centre is also about four minutes from Tarneit station, which is the easiest option for secondary students who travel on their own after school. There is free parking at the door on Apex Drive, so pick-up and drop-off take a minute, not a lap of a shopping centre car park. Our after-school window is 3:30 pm to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Friday, in one-hour sessions. As a rule for Altona Meadows families the 4:30 pm and 5 pm slots are the most popular, because the 15-minute drive after a 3:15 pm school finish makes 3:30 pm too tight. The last session of the day starts at 6 pm (5 pm on Fridays).
